Off-Peak Day Returns

Off-Peak Day Returns are great value tickets that are perfect for day trips. And there’s no need to buy them in advance – they cost the same price on the day.

When are they valid?
“Off-Peak” is the cheapest time to travel, all year round. As a rule of thumb, this means trains departing from your starting station after 9.30am Monday to Friday, or any time on weekends or Bank Holidays.

Some trains departing before 9.30am also benefit from “Off-Peak” fares – the easiest way to check is to use the Great Western Railway journey planner to see available fares for your specific train.

You can save even more by getting a Devon & Cornwall Railcard, which gives a third off Off-Peak Day Return fares.

Need to travel in the morning peak?
If you are considering commuting by rail, try the season ticket calculator, which offers season tickets for one week, one month or any period up to a year. Part-time season tickets are also available.
