Truro station clock restored

Truro clock refurbished crop

The clock on platform 2 at Truro station was in need of TLC, having stopped being a reliable timekeeper (and hence having to be stopped) and with its casing filthy from decades of diesel fumes.

GWR Station Manager Lee Goodson and his staff were determined to get the clock restored inside and out and asked the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership for help with funding.

They approached the Railway Heritage Trust and obtained a grant from both them and the Designated Community Rail Development Fund which is backed by the Department for Transport and ACoRP, the Association of Community Rail Partnerships.

With the money secured, Lee arranged for the clock to be carefully taken down for restoration.  The face and motion was tackled by D & C Watchmakers of Exeter, Integral dealt with the decorative iron bracket and Booking Office Supervisor Dave Antonio carefully cleaned the casing in his kitchen at home.

The clock is now back in its place, gleaming and keeping time perfectly
