Station cafe heralds ‘incredible response’ to promotional video

The Tarka Line Bistro, a newly reopened independent café at Eggesford station in Devon, has reported a big boost in patronage thanks to a video by the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership (DCRP).
DCRP’s Social Media Officer, Betsy Saunders, visited to film a short video promoting the café, the neighbouring farm shop and the scenic journey on the Tarka Line from Exeter.
The video received more than 800 likes across Facebook, TikTok and Instagram, attracting 75 comments including: “looks amazing”, “well worth a visit – with a lovely train ride too”, and “will definitely be visiting soon”.
The Bistro’s Rebecca Lauder reported:
“We’ve had an absolutely incredible response thanks to the video. People have come from as far afield as Dorset and Cullompton especially to see us! Thank you so very much – it’s made us have a very busy start to 2025. We’d love to have you back in the summer.”
Betsy said: “It’s been great to see the impact of the video, supporting both the local economy and the railway. We’ve got plenty more videos planned, so stay tuned to our Great Scenic Railways channels on social media.”
