Branch line journey figures up 20% in two years

Local branch lines continue to go from strength to strength thanks to the support of the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership.

Journey figures for the branch lines that form the Partnership’s core focus rose by 20% in 2025 compared with 2023.

The figures – courtesy of Great Western Railway – show that across the following lines 3.52 million journeys were made in total, compared with 2.93 million two years earlier:

• Tarka Line
• Dartmoor Line
• Tamar Valley Line
• Looe Valley Line (pictured)
• Atlantic Coast Line
• Maritime Line
• St Ives Bay Line
